Questions people ask
Who can be an egg donor with Poppy?
Egg donors are 21 to 31 and in good health. Before you are matched, you go through medical, genetic and psychological screening. We explain each part before it happens. [[PLACEHOLDER: full donor eligibility criteria]]
How much are egg donors paid, and when?
Pay starts from $10,000 per cycle. Your exact amount is in your agreement before you start any medication. Payment is released after the egg retrieval. [[PLACEHOLDER: confirm donor payment timing and method]]
How much time does egg donation take?
Screening usually takes a few weeks, with a handful of appointments and some paperwork. Once a cycle starts, expect about two to three weeks of short, frequent monitoring visits, then the retrieval day. Most people rest for a day or two afterward, and we plan dates with you well in advance.
Can I stay anonymous?
We talk through contact and anonymity with you before you are matched, and your lawyer explains what your agreement says. Some donors prefer no contact, and some are open to it. Home DNA tests mean full anonymity cannot be promised to anyone, so we are honest about that up front. [[PLACEHOLDER: donation types Poppy offers]]
What happens medically, in plain words?
You take hormone injections for about ten to twelve days to help several eggs mature at once. During that time you have short monitoring visits with blood work and an ultrasound. The eggs are then collected in a short procedure under sedation, and someone drives you home the same day. This is a general description, not medical advice.
Who reads my donor profile?
Your profile is shared with intended parents looking for a donor through Poppy, and with the clinic and lawyers involved in your match. Identifying details like your full name and address stay off it. You review your profile before anyone else sees it.
